4. One of the clearest descriptions of the work of Serbian astronomer Milutin Milankovitch and his theory that slow changes over vast periods of time in Earth’s orbit, tilt and wobble influence climate change on a cyclic basis. This National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration web site explores these relationships from a number of perspectives. 5. New research suggests a direct link between the magnetic fields of the human heart and those of the Earth. Before the death of her late husband, Dr. William Ban Bise, he and Dr. Elizabeth Rauscher researched and developed a sensitive magnetic field detector capable of measuring the subtle fluctuations of magnetic fields in the Earth’s atmosphere. Satellite date from the GOES satellites in 2001 demonstrated that these fields are influenced by changes in mass human emotion. These discoveries have led to the hypothesis that the communication between the human heart and certain layers of the ionosphere is a two-way communication—we are influenced by the field and we may influence the field. The Institute of HeartMath (founded in 1991 as a non-profit research organization to explore the potential of the human heart) has initiated a global project to explore this relationship: The Global Coherence Initiative. 6. There are a number of translations for the Mahabharata available. Due to its immense size (over 100,000 verses), the translations are usually published in sections, with the classic the Bhagavad-Gita the most recognized. The quotes that I have used come from author and researcher David Hatcher Childress, referring to the translation of Charles Berlitz and his book Mysteries of Forgotten Worlds (New York: Doubleday, 1972). Childress, a lifelong researcher and explorer, has amassed an impressive body of evidence suggesting that advanced forms of technology have existed in past, including his book, Technology of the Gods: The Incredible Sciences of the Ancients (Adventures Unlimited Press, 2000). For those interested in reading sections of the text itself, one of the better translations that I have found is through the work of Pratap Chandr Roy. A portion of his translations may be viewed electronically for academic and research purposes (noncommercial), specifically pages 446-447 and 489-481, at: http://www.abob.libs.uga.edu/bobk/maha/mahbfr.htm.

16. Maya Cosmogenesis 2012, p.23. It was not until early in the 20th Century that modern scholars were able to reconcile the dates indicated by the Mayan galactic calendar with the dates on our modern calendar. Even today, there is still some controversy as to precisely when the 5,125 year cycle of the Mayan calendar begins. After the exhaustive study described in this text, and after taking into account the shifts and adjustments made by the Romans and the early Christian Church, the date that is most widely accepted as the start of the great Mayan cycle is 3114BC. This is the date that Jenkins references in his work, and the date that I will use for consistency throughout this book.

14. The golden ratio falls into a curious class of numbers that are related as reciprocals of one another. So while the value of Phi with the capital “P” is 1.618, its reciprocal is the phi with the lower case “p” whose value is .618. You can demonstrate this relationship for yourself through the formula (1÷P = p). Substituting the actual values we find that (1÷1.618 = .618). Because of this relationship, phi is sometimes called the golden ratio conjugate. For the mathematic properties of Phi and phi please see the BBC website, http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2346374.
15. An irrational number is one that that cannot be expressed as a repeating decimal or terminating decimal. The number pi (π) 3.14…is an example of a decimal that is believed to continue infinitely without repeating.

To give greater meaning to the charts on Chapter 6, the units of the magnetic intensity are shorthand for the reading multiplied by 1022 ampere meters (AM)2. For example, the reference date of 1155 B.C. shows the magnetic strength as 10.5 units, or 10.5 X 1022 AM2.
14. Luminosity—the output of energy from the Sun—is measured as a relative reading of power in terms of photon emissions. The Sun’s luminosity has changed throughout history and is currently accepted as 3.839 X 1026 Watts. The historic readings referenced in Chapter 6 are relative to the present luminosity. The readings for Chapter 6 were extracted by the author from data reported by: Charles A. Perry and Kenneth J. Hsu, “Geophysical, Archaeological, and Historical Evidence Support A Solar-Output Model for Climate Change,” Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (November 7, 2000) vol. 97, no. 23, p.12433-12438. 11. The title of the 1998 study from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, says it all: “Quantum Theory Demonstrated: Observation Affects Reality.” In terms that sound more a philosopher’s hypothesis than a scientific conclusion, the paper describes how we affect reality just by watching it. Rather than being buffered from our world and the things that make life what it is, the studies prove that we are intimately connected with everything from the life inside of our bodies to the world beyond our bodies. Our experience of consciousness expressed as feeling and belief is doing the connecting. The act of us simply looking at our world—the feelings and beliefs that we have as we focus our awareness upon the particles that the world is made of—changes those particles while we are looking. “Quantum theory Demonstrated: Observation Affects Reality,” Nature, February 26, 1998 (Vol. 391, pp. 871-874).
